Prairie State Conservation Coalition (PSCC) is pleased to announce that it will be the recipient of a significant grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for the preservation and enhancement of natural habitats and wildlife areas in Illinois. The grant, which could reach up to $42 million, will be used to provide funding to eligible 501(c)3 organizations or local government bodies engaged in the preservation and enhancement of natural habitats and wildlife areas in Illinois.

“Prairie State Conservation Coalition is excited about this next step in our evolution,” said PSCC Executive Director Cynthia Kanner. “This generous grant will be transformative and will allow us to fund the preservation and enhancement of natural habitats and wildlife areas in Illinois.

“We are extremely grateful to the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for entrusting us with these funds and for the opportunity to take up the mantle to support vital conservation efforts here in Illinois.”

PSCC expects to take much of the coming year to put people, systems, and programs in place to responsibly administer the grant funds it will receive from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.

PSCC plans to begin administering grants sometime after mid-2025.

Founded in 2005, PSCC provides a statewide network of collaborative peer support and ongoing skill development for land conservation organizations in Illinois. PSCC helps strengthen land conservation organizations by providing them with networking opportunities, training, and through promoting the value of conservation to Illinois communities.
