PSCC Statement on Federal funding freezes and dismissals
As many are aware in our conservation community across Illinois, federal funding freezes and indiscriminate firings have deep and sudden impact on projects and people across our state.
The Prairie State Conservation Coalition (PSCC) with its 40-member conservation organizations are concerned with unilateral federal actions that have stopped restoration work at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, could cause disruptions to Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) operations in Illinois, and raised the alarming prospect of staffing and programmatic losses for the Illinois River National Wildlife Refuges.
Are you affected by the sudden actions taken at the federal level? Please share your story and help us assemble a speedy report on how these decisions are affecting Illinois land conservation.
We cannot stand by while the clock is spun backward on progress towards a healthier environment for all Illinoisans.
If you are able, please take a few moments to tell us how this affects you by filling out a short questionnaire. Thank you.
